Making a homemade deer/Wildlife feeder is simple and shouldn't take you more than 20 minutes to produce.
What you need:
5 foot stick of 3-4 inch PVC Pipe
Saws-all or other means of cutting the pipe
Coffee Can or some other way to cover the pipe
Sledge hammer
Directions
Start by cutting one end of the pipe at a 45 degree angle, this will aid in pounding it into the ground. Next measure 8-10 inches up from the end of the pipe you just cut. Cut in an opening, again using a 45 degree angle, the opening should be 4-5 inches long depending on the type of grain you are using. That's it, you just made a homemade deer/wildlife feeder.
Setting it in place
Find a good area that is frequented by the species you are trying to attract, look for runs or natural food sources. Once you find a good area, simply pound the PVC into the ground so that the opening is flush with the surface of the dirt. Fill with grain and then cover with a coffee can or some other means to prevent water from getting to the grain.
While this feeder is extremely inexpensive to make, it has one major draw back, you can't control the amount of feed available to the deer. This seems minor until you start to go through a 50 pound bag of feed every three days. Another inexpensive alternative to the higher priced wildlife feeders is to buy just the spreader and attach it to your own bucket. We offer some of the more popular models below.
