I think one of the main issues about hunting is teaching your children hunter safety. We live in an area where a father was shot by his own son because he took off his hunter orange in the woods and it proved fatal. It is important to teach your children to leave firearms alone until properly instructed in their use and they have passed a hunter safety course. My husband used to teach hunter safety. Also never leave a loaded gun where children can get hold of it.
